Founder, branding, site design and site creation in Webflow
Personal Project
In the Stands was created by my wife and I in 2019. It's a travel resource for people visiting MLB ballparks where we give recommendations on places to stay and things to do.
Simple design where users have a couple of ways to navigate in to the ballparks. The first is a scrolling marquee of the ballparks to add some movement and visuals to the homepage. The second is a map so users can see where all the ballparks are located. I know people try to hit up more than one ballpark in a trip, so it's helpful for planning if they can visually see where they all are.
I've always been a fan of simple sports branding. I love old jerseys with no frills and simple type. I created the text lock up to be like something you'd see on a jersey, and the S would be on the hat. I've actually had a small run of hats made, and I think they turned out great.
I was curious if the site was something I could create myself. I don't really know how to code, so after doing some research I found that Webflow seemed to have everything I needed. It has robust CMS capabilities and a fairly simple interface to create pages.
I sketched idea after idea in my notebook, and decided to just try to create the pages inside Webflow. I wanted a custom layout so I purposely did not use any templates, but I did use a couple of elements from the community (map rollovers on the Homepage and rollovers on the Discover page).
I still have a lot of content I need to add to the site and this is a project that will never really be "done".
