Honestly, I think job titles are becoming a little convoluted.Design
Rubio's is a fast-casual restaurant chain that makes pretty tasty fish tacos. I was lucky enough to help design a couple of website concepts for a pitch that Piston did. I worked on 2 different designs, and the concepts helped them win the pitch. The second design ultimately turned into the website, but unfortunately they have gone through a redesign. I was in the process of moving at the time, so I was not involved in the actual site design.
This is actually my favorite of the two concepts, but it’s a little off brand from where Rubio’s wanted to be at the time. The idea was to make this one feel a little more beachy, and give it a more dynamic feel. There's a lot of texture, design elements and an assymetrical layout that ultimately proved too much for the client.
In contrast to the first concept, I wanted this design to feel more clean and symmetrical.
The client ultimately chose this design because at the time Rubio’s wanted a cleaner aesthetic.
